Day #17 - Tyumen to Yekaterinburg (384km)

Rally STATS:

Day: 6hrs 53mins (Total 127hrs 51mins) Overall Position: 21  Class Position: 7

"After what we’ve driven through over the last few days the Rally was due a bit of an easy day with some fun thrown in and today we got it. It was a short day and there was a test within 20 km of leaving the hotel. This was a fantastic blast around a rallycross circuit, no navigation was required, it was timed to the second and the crews were required to complete two laps" - Syd Stelvio ERA Report in full

Leaving Tyumen this morning we expected a similar day to the previous 3 and weren't disappointed. The only difference today was we managed to do 2 laps on a grass circuit which was very enjoyable. Arrived at Yekaterinburg - fab place - fab hotel and an earlyish  finish to enjoy it.

Same again tomorrow - can't believe we still have 3000km to the border - it's a massive country .

Dirt track circuit - good fun

Another 380km - easy peasy

Old cars - communist country - western culture all crash together

Beautiful City

Made a new friend or is it Richard ? (admin: certainly fresher than Richard)

Stunning buildings.

Half way through our adventure in time and distance. Another 380km nearer to Paris, we were caught in traffic just after a 3 car smash, not surprising as the roads are rutted making it difficult to drive straight.

Yekaterinburg is a big city with a lovely mix of old and new architecture. We are in the Hyatt so we expect no sympathy about our living conditions. The Volvo is running well but with the occasional noise from the suspension and diff, not unexpected after the Mongolian abuse.

Bring on Day #18 - Yekaterinburg to Perm (420km)
